One major way of reducing anxieties is by simplifying our lives. This might mean that you have to turn your entire life upside down to clear away the clutter. Once some “space” is created, it becomes easier to identify what makes us feel more fulfilled.
The minimalism movement is going strong for a reason. Once we are able to discard what does NOT serve our well-being, we create space to enjoy the more meaningful activities in our lives. This could mean creating the space to make more calls to our family members. This could mean extra energy reserves for starting or finishing our passion projects. This could mean rearranging our homes to be more attractive and functional so that our mood is elevated. Beauty of our surroundings has enormous value to our well-being. A cluttered mind, cluttered home, cluttered car, or cluttered office space can be the source of tremendous “background” anxiety and frustration.
I usually start my decluttering intentions by getting an empty box. I fill the box with anything that has served it’s purpose and doesn’t seem special enough to keep. It feelings good donating things that others could use.
What many don’t realize is that you have to deepen your awareness of why you bought these items in the first place. There is an emotional motive to our purchases. If we get in touch with our emotions during a purchasing “mood,” we begin to realize that we are buying the promise of feeling “better.”
Some common examples:
I will feel better when I lose the weight.
I will feel better when I make more money.
I will feel better when I find my soulmate.
You might notice a pattern in your buying habits. The pattern is ALWAYS very revealing of our state of consciousness.
This is just the beginning of the transformational process. The less we bring lower valued things into our lives, the more space opens up in our being. We can feel more relaxed and joyful without needing to do anything in particular. You will save more time because it takes time to clean and fix things.
Your Time = Your Life
Your Energy = Your Life
We can just be without apologies.
Be joyful!
